MARSPEC provides high resolution climatic and geophysical raster grids for the world ocean. The data is split into modern (1955–2010) and paleo (mid-Holocene and Last Glacial Maximum) climatology datasets. The data is delivered via http manual download in a compressed (7zip) bundle of a number of rasters. This new package is designed to simplify the download and management process for R users. One especially useful feature is that the package is agnostic about the raster data class - you can choose to read as stars or a SpatRaster data class.
